Before the inception of Swyft Services, I embarked on a transformative journey in Cape Town, spending nearly seven years as the principal sound engineer at Red Bull’s flagship recording studio. This role was more than just a job; it was a crucible where my passion for sound and design fused.

At Red Bull, I was brought in during the early phases of the studio’s construction. Collaborating with Buck Broadcast and Manifest Interiors, I contributed to every facet of the studio’s design. From the intricate acoustic treatments that ensured crystal-clear sound, to the innovative soundproofing methods that kept the studio isolated from the high street and surrounding businesses, every detail was meticulously crafted.
One of the most exciting challenges was balancing top-tier acoustic quality with practical concerns like soundproofing and climate control. For instance, we devised a unique air conditioning solution that kept the studio comfortable without compromising sound quality, using a dedicated storage room for beverages that also housed the cooling units. This approach allowed us to maintain a peaceful environment for recording, mixing and mastering.

Moreover, my involvement extended beyond acoustics. I played a key role in shaping the studio’s aesthetic, from selecting timber finishes for bespoke carpentry, like white ash for flooring and diffusion panels to crafting custom acoustic diffusers in creative shapes, including the iconic Red Bull logo. These innovations not only enhanced the studio’s functionality but also its visual appeal, creating an inspiring environment for artists and producers.
This rich background in sound engineering and design deeply influences Swyft Services today. Our commitment to acoustic excellence ensures that every bespoke fitted space we create is not only visually stunning but also acoustically impeccable.
