Case Study: Illuminating Cartier’s Christmas Facade

Cartier New Bond Street, Christmas 2024—COB LEDs and DMX control for a seamless, luxurious glow.

In 2024, Swyft Services was invited by Ingenious Productions to contribute to Cartier’s iconic Christmas facade on New Bond Street as well as their in-store popup shop fitouts for the season. While the initial design was crafted over six months, our involvement began just one month before the grand installation.

Innovative Solutions:

One of the key challenges we tackled was the discreet distribution of power throughout the intricate aluminium and LED setups. We employed an innovative technique using a vacuum to run draw wires through complex pipework, ensuring that every lighting point received power without any visible cabling.

MR MDF ‘jewellery boxes’—sealed, wrapped, and torture-tested outdoors with continuous water exposure

Approx. 120 drivers and DMX decoders—rewired, heat-shrunk, and weather-sealed for reliability.

Collaborative Efforts:

Our role extended beyond just electrical work. We collaborated closely with steel workers, CNC cutting companies, carpenters, and engineers to bring the design to life. Each ring was meticulously assembled and tested in a dedicated warehouse, ensuring everything fit perfectly before being transported to the Cartier building.

Achieving Perfection:

A significant part of the project involved perfecting the gold finish. We tested multiple spray and lacquer finishes to achieve the luxurious, reflective quality that Cartier demanded. We also ensured that the MR MDF used in the installation was rigorously tested for weather resistance, ensuring longevity and durability.
